:: the way nature and the universe work hand in hand to bring us just what we really need, exactly when we need it (and the way the struggle of letting go is usually an integral part of that journey).
:: a brand new computer and a brand new beginning (for this little blog anyway) to the beautiful summer that is upon us.

thank you all for your sweet birthday wishes! i had an absolutely perfect and lovely birthday weekend...filled with lots of knitting time, a handmade birthday card and a beeswax sun, fresh flowers, a new iphone, a yummy lunch at a favorite restaurant, our spring parent meeting with our beloved first grade teacher, a handknitted scarf from a dear friend, a fun supper with my twin sister and our parents, and time with my precious family. i am filled with gratitude for everyone and everything in my life!
as for my weekend knitting, i finished this little felted drawstring bag that i wanted to make for maya's upcoming birthday (which is march 15, just 10 days after mine). i highly-altered my iphone purse pattern to create this little bag (ravelry notes here), widening it and putting in an eyelet row close to the top for a drawstring cord...
and i've got more handknits for maya's approaching birthday to share this week. :) happy monday!

weekend knitting - yes, i do believe this just might become my regular monday post. somehow it seems that only one knitting post a week (wip wednesday) is just not enough for this knitting waldorf mama. and so today i bring you one of my latest completed projects - a hat for me! i've never been much of a hat wearer myself, but i truly believe in keeping hats on children to ensure their warmth, especially in the cooler months...and so to be a good example to my girl, i knew i needed to find a hat that i liked and that would work for me. and i have definitely found the hat for me in my new medici beret...
designed by woolly wormhead, this beautiful crown-like beret was just the look i was going for - slightly slouchy in style, but not too much. the pattern was easy to follow, yet the design elements kept it interesting. i used the same yarn combination that welsey picked out for his slouchy hat (malabrigo and madelinetosh merino) because i found them so lovely together - now we have matching hats! i know i'm going to enjoy this hat for a long, long time. (note to self: i really need to figure out how to use my camera remote so i can take shots other than just close-ups of myself - even though i do love having maya as a model for most everything!)...
i also finished two more gnome hats for some more of our waldorf school friends...
let's hear it for hats!
