or a knit over, as the case may be!
although maya and i both initially loved the noro rainbow tunic that i knit her for her first day of first grade last year, it became apparent over the course of the year that she preferred wearing her many bloom tunics rather than this noro tunic. at first, i wondered about the reason for her preference - was it the yarn? was it the color? but i soon came to realize that what she likes is the way the stretchy ribbed bloom yoke fits her better than the squarer shoulders of the rainbow dress (she has unusally narrow shoulders). and so after some deliberation (mostly i wondered if the noro taiyo would indeed be stretchy enough?), i decided to proceed with reknitting this tunic using her favorite bloom pattern - from the bottom up! it's actually been quite an interesting and fun experience, pulling out the stitches and unknitting ('frogging') the original tunic as i go along...
we'll see. i'll keep you posted on the final outcome. :-)
