i'm slowly, ever so slowly, attempting to get back into my weekly blogging rhythm. and so today i bring you a few of my latest work-in-progress projects. first up is a new baby bloom tunic that i've just begun for a special little someone. the pattern is, of course, my usual hybrid version of georgie hallam's wonderful bloom and rainbow dress patterns - and it continues to be my favorite knitted garment for girls, big or small. i'm using two strands of fingering weight sock yarn held double for this baby size tunic - one strand of shivaya handpainted sock yarn and one strand of sundara sock yarn...
i was also recently inspired by soulemama's beach-inspired color palette and wanted to create one of my felted water bottle carriers using a similar color scheme...
and lastly, as you can see, i'm still collecting beautiful cottons and voiles for creating some fun and functional back-to-school things for my girl!

this week, i am grateful for...
:: reliving a recent family trip as i'm continuing to plow through and edit my photos (could i have actually taken that many photos in one day's time?) of some of the painted churches of texas (hoping to get that promised tour post up...soon)!
:: weathering the small setbacks and rejoicing in the continued improvement of wesley's brother as he presses onward in his recovery from lymphoma.
:: enjoying our daily breakfast tacos and french toast at a favorite little local cafe.

back in the spring, maya's final knitting project during her handwork class at our waldorf school was this amazing knitted lion...
the children used their own handmade knitting needles and brown sheep lamb's pride worsted yarn for knitting their lions. i had the privilege of sitting in as an assistant/helper on a few of the final handwork classes, as each child was quickly trying to finish up their lion by the end of the school year. how grateful i am to have been a part of that process! maya finished this final project on the last day of class and she named her lion coco. needless to say, she is quite proud of her even stitches and the new knitting techniques she learned while working on coco (which is only matched, or quite possibly even surpassed, by the pride this mama feels for her knitting girl)!
recently, i've had the honor of helping the children of a dear friend also knit some lions of their own. what a joy it is to witness each of them working diligently and taking pride in their accomplishments as they learn each new step along the way...

i've been continuing to knit and felt (making more felted water bottle carriers for gifts and for the shop) during these unplugged, slow, lazy summer days...
truly, knitting and felting is still my passion and joy. but i'm beginning to feel a slight shift in my creative flow and plan to be sewing some new fabric creations on my new machine...soon! i've literally been lying awake at night envisioning and planning combinations of fabrics to use for all of the new things i want to make...
ohhh, the possibilities!
