well, my friends...i certainly never intended to be away so long from this beloved space of mine! (has it really been over a month??) please know and trust that all has been well and good with me and all of my loved ones (i never meant to worry any of you!). but what with my annual knitting retreat, a big thanksgiving journey down south to be with family, along with a few other spontaneous family travels, our school's big winter fair, my sweetie's upcoming birthday, the christmas holidays fast approaching and the ensuing knitting marathon that has been taking place (all to be shared in various and sundry blog posts upcoming, i promise!)...i somehow got lost in the hustle and bustle of it all and neglected my creative journalling here. but i am back now! and it's going to feel so good to find my rhythm here again.
so now, where to begin? i think i will start with the knitting, of course! let's begin with a few of the bloom dresses/tunics that i knit for our school's winter fair (these are all examples of my usual modified version of tikki's lovely bloom dress - you can find detailed notes of each on my ravelry page here). first up is actually a custom order i did for another waldorf mama friend (hi, kim!) that i wanted to display on my table of handknits at the fair. all in malabrigo wosted, with a general focus on blues, and finished with a lovely feather-and-fan lace border. i quite like the way these color combinations worked together!

this second bloom dress/tunic is a bit on the wilder side. i had no set color combination in mind for this one, but rather just grabbed new colors as i went along...making it quite the random scrappy tunic! also mostly malabrigo worsted, with a few other various single-ply merinos included. i used the pattern's lace insert for the border on this one...

this next tunic was made with a single variegated colorway (three irish girls galenas merino is tara) and i actually found the pooling in the middle portion of the dress rather unique and appealing! again you will see the feather-and-fan lace border here...

and lastly, this dress/tunic was a custom order that i was hoping to finish while i was at the fair (alas, i didn't finish it until a few days afterward). once again, all malabrigo worsted in a rainbow of colors with a small stripe of variegated yarn to pull each color group together. finished off with a simple single-color feather-and-fan lace border...

more knitting goodness coming up tomorrow!
