i've been enjoying the craze that is bench monday. it's fun being creative in this space. and then seeing what everyone comes up with in their own unique style. i've never really been one to do self-portraits until last summer when i was inspired by several people on flickr to jump on the bandwagon. i did one self-portrait a day for a week, and it was quite an eye-opening experience for me. i never felt compelled to make the 365 commitment (one self-portrait a day for a year) but i did feel inclined to commit to one a month for the year. and so, here is installment number four...

and, of course, that meant i had to take one of my beautiful girl, too...
today i am 47 years old. it is always a strange thing to me, this aging process. i feel just the same today as i did when i was in my 20's and 30's. nothing has changed in me, except my perception of what age really is. as a child, the age i am now would have seemed old. but today, i feel as though life is just beginning. to quote goethe - 'age merely shows what children we remain'!
favorite red keen boots. comfy and warm velvet pants. relaxing after a very nice baby shower that i attended this evening for one of our a leche league group leaders. great restaurant. good friends. fun conversation. and yummy food. there is a very special and wonderful energy that exists in a room full of women who are celebrating the birth of a baby. it's always such an honor to be a part of it.
i've had an abundance of hat orders in the shop this past week, so i'll be very busy knitting in the coming days. if you don't see me here in this space as much as usual...you'll know where i am. happily knitting away. and hopefully creating some of those other new and exciting things that i want to share with you soon!

yours in the joy of knitting,
p.s. i've decided to do one self-portrait per month this year.
