a pattern update...

i am pleased to announce an update to my felted water bottle carrier pattern (available on ravelry***)! i've rewritten the pattern to now include instructions for accomodating three different klean kanteen™ (or similar type) water bottle sizes - a smaller 12oz (sippy cup) size, a medium 18oz size (from my original pattern release) and a larger 27oz size. i've also made a few other minor changes after receiving some helpful feedback, including adding a bit of length to both the lunch-box style handle and the cross-body strap options. :-)

in my knitting basket...

i've made quite a bit more progress on the two knitting projects i'm currently working on and am now close to finishing both! i'm down to the lace border edging on my shivaya/sundara baby bloom and i'm absolutely loving the way this sweet little tunic is turning out...

i've also completed the knitting portion of my latest beach-inspired felted water bottle carrier, with only the felting left to do...

the painted churches of texas...

here are some photos from a recent family tour of the historic painted churches of texas, many of which are in the national register of historic places. these churches, all located in fayette county near schulenberg texas, were painted in the early 1900's by german and czech immigrants fleeing austria for religious freedom. we learned that the paint the artists used was mixed onsite and i must say is still quite bright and vibrant even today. all of the churches we visited were located out in the countryside a relatively short distance from austin, which made for a fun and easy day trip...

what struck me about these churches was the artists' dedication and attention to detail, creating beautiful spaces despite their limited funds and resources. indeed, beauty and creativity is always inspirational!
