this week i've been diligently working on maya's new rainbow tunic (which i'm knitting for her birthday on march 15). i'm using dream in color's classy worsted weight yarn, just like i did for her rainbow blanket...only this time around i've changed/added a few new colorways (ravelry link with details here). initially, i thought i would make a garter stitch border at the bottom of this tunic...but now that spring is upon us, i think something a little more light and airy would be more appropriate? i'm thinking i might go with the eyelet and lace border from the original bloom pattern (like i did with the first scrappy bloom tunic i made for her), although i'm still not quite sure. i'm also planning on making her a matching rainbow doll tunic for one of her waldorf babies!
our knitting group also met this week and we decided that all of our knitted squares for the school blanket we are making really needed to have a crochet edging around them in order to create a more uniform and finished look (as well as making the blanket a bit easier to piece together). and so our goal for this week is to each take a few squares and crochet the edging around them using the contrasting border yarn. being the tried and true knitter that i am and not being much of a crocheter, i was a bit anxious about this project...but i'm actually quite enjoying it!
my yarn update this week is a few new additional skeins of malabrigo worsted in some basic colorways that i've been needing:
in little lovely...
in emerald blue...
and in verdes...
what are you working on this week?
