wip wednesday :: another scrappy bloom tunic

the rain has tapered off now and the sun finally came out a bit later this afternoon so i could take a few photos - so without further ado, here is my latest work-in-progress project. you guessed it, another scrappy bloom tunic. this one in all malabrigo leftovers...blues, greens and browns. i'm doing this one as a knit-a-long with my austin waldorf mamas knitting group. after some of my mama friends saw my first scrappy bloom tunic, they wanted to knit one, too...and so, i'll be sharing with them the modifications i made to georgie's bloom pattern and we'll be knitting them together each week. fun stuff!

and my yarn update today consists a few of these skeins of worsted malabrigo merino that i've been needing to add to my online ravelry stash, in the following colors:

a very rainy day...

my, my what a difference a day can make. yesterday...bright and sunny. today...crazy stormy and rainy! hurricane season has indeed officially begun in south texas, as we received the inland fallout of tropical storm hermine here in austin. so as we began the new school week after our lovely holiday weekend, out came the rain boots and rain coats!

a very wet day, ending in a lot of nesting time inside where we're keeping cozy and dry. hopefully the sun will come out a bit tomorrow so i can get some photos of my new work-in-progress. :)

as we embrace and enjoy our new home town, i thought it might be fun to share, every now and then, a few of our favorite spots around this wonderful little city of ours (inspired by soulemama's around town series). and so, i'd like to begin with one of our current (and longtime, before we actually moved here) favorites:

p.s. my current favorite of their 'simple smoothies' is the berry melon-o (pictured above). strawberry, mango, raspberry and fresh watermelon - yum!

wip wednesday :: more klaralund and another bloom

i've made a bit more progress on my noro klaralund sweater - i've finished the body and have started on one of the sleeves. i'm looking forward to completing this one before the cooler weather arrives...

and as you may have guessed, i've already started another bloom tunic for maya (i warned there would be more)! this one in some favorite merino that i've been saving for years for just the right project...in a colorway called 'happy day' - how perfect, right? oh, how i love these colors!
