bloom fest...

here is my third completed bloom tunic ('scrappy' version number two). for this one, i used all malabrigo in blues, greens and browns...

once again, i used the same modifications as i did on my first scrappy bloom - a combination of georgie hallam's bloom and rainbow dress patterns, including only the lace insert and eyelet rows as a border at the bottom...

in my book, there is no such thing as too many blooms!

wip wednesday :: yes, another bloom!

indeed, i've already cast on for yet another bloom tunic (my 4th, so far). for this one, i've chosen an absolutely gorgeous gradual gradient rainbow merino yarn that i've been anxiously awaiting from jolly jumbuck, out of australia (see yarn photos below). as before, i'm using the same modifications that i used on the other three tunics (knitting the bodice of bloom and the skirt from rainbow dress)...

oh my goodness, i'm anxious to see this one completed. no doubt it will be my rainbow girl's favorite!

community snack...

during first grade at our waldorf school, our children join together in a 'community snack' after their morning activities and before lunch. on mondays, they have muffins. on tuesdays, they have fruit. on wednesdays, they have veggies. on thursdays, they have cheese and crackers. and on fridays, they have popcorn. as such, one child's family brings snacks for all of the children in the class (and the teacher) for one week out of the year. and this week...is our week.

yesterday, we took some yummy cinnamon crumble muffins and all of the children loved them. then last night, maya and i carefully handwashed all of the little muslin bags that we are using and proceeded to fill them with grapes and strawberries for today.

there is something so very meaningful about taking the time to prepare these snacks with love and care each day (as well as packaging them in reusable/sustainable cotton muslin bags!) and knowing that our children will be sharing a healthy and nutritious snack together at school.

:: finding a nice and gentle rhythm to our days.

happy day bloom tunic...

just before casting on yesterday for my newest knit-a-long scrappy bloom tunic, i finished this happy day bloom tunic for maya (named after the lovely yarn colorway it is knit in). although you might not be able to tell from the photos (shots of maya modeling it to come soon), it's quite a bit shorter than her previous bloom tunic because i had less yarn to work with. but i'm liking this shorter length as an overshirt/vest variation...

i also knit a bit of a garter stitch border, including one eyelet row, for a simple finishing touch...

i really am absolutely in love with this pattern - such a simple and quick knit! once again, look for even more of these in my knitting future.
