the festival of michaelmas was celebrated yesterday at our waldorf school, marking the beginning of autumn and the shortening of days. what a lovely sight it was to see all of the children on the playground...running in their golden robes of silk! all of the students at the school were invited to watch the fourth grade's performance of the traditional michaelmas play, and maya came home singing songs of micha-el. what a lovely way to commemorate this change of seasons. happy michaelmas to all!

wip wednesday :: bittersweet baktus

my work-in-progress this week is yet another lacy baktus scarf (my 5th) - this one also in lorna's laces lion and lamb, but this time in the bittersweet colorway...

and my yarn update this week consists of this yarn, as well as the rest of my lion and lamb colorways (a few of which will most likely become more lacy baktus scarves!):

her path...

our waldorf school is situated on 19 wooded acres of beautiful land here on the edge of the hill country in central texas. everywhere you look, there are trees and nature surrounding the children. each morning when we arrive at school, we park out by the main road and walk this little forest path to maya's first grade classroom. this is her path...

i love the serenity and beauty that it brings to our mornings. and the memory that this little ritual is creating.

a scrappy milo...

my, my...indeed this scrappy milo was a fast knit (i only just cast on for it last wednesday). another hats off to georgie hallam for her innovative, yet simple, designs! once again, i used all malabrigo worsted in blues, greens and browns...

i went with the cute owl cable (among the many options), using duplicate stitching for the eyes and beak (instead of tiny buttons as some have used) - and i rather like the look...

wip wednesday :: scrappy milo

my new work-in-progress today is a scrappy milo vest to match the scrappy bloom dress i made in blues, greens and browns - all malabrigo. i've only just cast on, but i can see this is going to be a very quick and fun knit...

also, i've made a great deal of progress and am just finishing up the last few rows of maya's rainbow bloom dress. this time, i decided to go with a simple feather and fan border and i'm really loving the way it looks. i'm quite anxious to finish this, get it blocked and see the final product!
