wip wednesday :: another iphone purse

after i knit up and felted my little rainbow iphone purse, my sweet husband asked me to make one for him in brown yarn (he's masculine enough to carry a small man-purse, as he calls it). it's taken me a while, but i finally cast on this week for this chocolate brown iphone purse for him. once again, i'm using malabrigo - which is now my favorite felting yarn. this time in a lovely variegated chocolate brown colorway...

and as promised earlier (after a few requests), i will get busy and get my pattern notes for this little iphone purse written up in PDF form and available on ravelry! i will announce that here on the blog as soon as it's ready.

p.s. thank you so much for all of your wonderful suggestions for fixing/improving my big felted rainbow basket. i've got some good ideas now and will share the new and improved basket soon!

at the end of the rainbow...

here, finally, is my finished big felted rainbow basket! it's still not completely dry, but it does appear that the sides are definitely not going to stand up as i had originally intended (because of the huge size) - which, of course, is a bit of a disappointment. i also decreased too much on the last few rows, which caused the sides to be slightly puckered and the top edge to pull in more than i anticipated. but even with its flaws, i'm still happy with the whole process as well as the final product. especially the vibrant rainbow colors! and i'm sure i'll find some way to put it to good use...

i'm thinking that maybe i can straighten/stiffen up the sides with some kind of starch or something? have anyone ever done something like this? or have any good suggestions? i'd appreciate any ideas or guidance you have to offer. :-)

wip wednesday :: deja vu

feeling a bit of deja vu? i know i am. this should be the final week for this continuing work-in-progress! i'm on the last color of this big felted rainbow basket and will be putting it in the washer to felt before the end of the week. check out how big this baby is (with maya as a reference) in it's pre-felted state! whew, what a whale of a project. the next time you see this basket, it will be felted and finished! i'm anxious to see if it will turn out as beautiful as i've been visualizing it...

ZEN!

thanks to all who shared and suggested so many great names for our new pup. it was a hard decision to make, but we have decided on zen. he is so calm and sweet and strong and playful, all at the same time - very balanced, really. so zen is just perfect. :-)
