this is our final week of kindergarten, and i am finding myself in a constant state of gratitude. grateful for this wonderful year of kindergarten for maya. grateful for maya's amazing teacher, who is a gentle guiding spirit and wonderful mentor. grateful for this like-minded community of friends and families. grateful in every way for this beautiful waldorf journey we are on!

wip wednesday :: baby blanket

today's work-in-progress is the carriage baby blanket that i committed to making with my dallas knitting buddies for a family friend. but, of course, i've put this off now until the last minute. the baby shower is may 29 and i've still got to finish my two strips of knitting, plus seam it all together! i'll let you know if i make it. :) in the meantime, this cotton and wool blend yarn is a dream to work with...

i've also got an interesting yarn update today. when looking through my stash, i found these two colorways recurring throughout my yarn groupings - my favorite peachy-pink color, as well as a blueish-green color combination. here are these two contrasting colorways in 3 different sets of yarn:

the last few weeks...

today is our last official road trip to austin for this school year. the last two weeks of kindergarten for maya. it's hard to believe we are coming to the end of this very special journey. where, oh where, did the time go?

i will surely miss the rhythm of our drive to austin and back, but i am looking forward to the relaxing time at home as summer approaches. and, of course, our upcoming move. we've got a busy few weeks ahead of us for now, so don't be surprised if you see me a bit less here on the blog. i'll have much to share in the weeks coming up!

ojo de dios...

maya's 9 year old cousin recently taught her how to make an 'ojo de dios' (god's eye) craft using two sticks and some scrap yarn (instructions can be found here). what a fun and simple little project this has been for her!

and isn't it just lovely? i have a feeling there will be many more of these in our crafting future. :-)
