another week of slow-going progress on my felted rainbow basket. i'm finally up to green now. this thing is going to be huge!
and my yarn update for this week consists of 6 skeins of lorna's laces shepherd worsted - in rainbow, of course...

this weekend, we welcomed a 12 week old fawn doberman pup into our family! he and his all-male litter-mates (all fawns and blues, which are apparently less desirable due to the likelihood of an inherited skin condition) had been rescued and seized from an inappropriate environment by our local doberman rescue group. this little guy was the smallest of the litter, but had the calmest and sweetest temperament. and even though we were visiting the rescue group in an effort to first determine if a doberman might be the right breed for us (after a great deal of research), we left with this little guy in our arms. and welcomed him into our hearts...
we're still searching for just the right name for him. we're thinking maybe something kingly and majestic. any suggestions?

i've got two works-in-progress in my knitting basket this week. first up is yet another lacy baktus scarf in yet another lorna's laces colorway (this one is irving park). have i mentioned how much i love this pattern and this yarn? hmm, i guess that's kind of obvious, isn't it?
i've also made a bit more progress on my big felted rainbow basket. i'm still working on the base of the basket , so i'm only into the purple (i'm knitting it from the bottom up). but oh my, am i excited about this one...

here is the finished rainbow baktus (modeled by maya) that i've been working on for maya's kindergarten teacher (which we plan to give her, as a family, at maya's kindergarten crossing over ceremony at the end of may). each stitch is filled with an abundance of love. and deep gratitude. and unending thanks. a rainbow gift for a teacher whom simple words seem too mundane to describe. for the boundless treasure she has given our rainbow girl during this first year of her waldorf education. for making dreams come true...

p.s. also, in response to many previous requests regarding where i purchased this yarn...this 50% silk, 50% wool gradient dyed yarn was custom dyed for me by tree frog knits!
