here are three small work-in-progress projects i'm sharing today. two pairs of basic fingerless mitts for gifts and an ever evolving scarf for me...
these basic fingerless mitts are quickly becoming my 'go to' handknitted gift item (although, in each case, i am making the wrist cuff longer than the pattern calls for - see my ravelry notes for details on each). a very quick and super easy knit, these gloves have an amazing fit because of the clever rib pattern. these two are my 2nd and 3rd pairs and i'll inevitably be adding quite a few more to my queue. this yellow pair is for my 9 year old niece, made to match the sauterne gnome hat i made her for christmas. like her hat, these are knit in malabrigo merino worsted - sauterne colorway...

likewise, i am making these rainforest mitts for my oldest daughter, hannah, to match the rainforest cowl i made her for christmas - each so named for the colorway of this fiesta boomerang yarn. (hmmm, i think i'm seeing a pattern developing here - matching mitts for everyone?) i'm really excited about the way this pair is knitting up in this colorway...

now, on to this lacy baktus scarf in progress. if you remember, this gorgous yarn started out as a waffle scarf (which i envisioned both my husband and i sharing) - but i just wasn't happy with the way it was turning out in this colorway. so i ripped that out and tried the enjoyable rib scarf pattern next (which i had just used for a scarf for my mom), but i wasn't thrilled with that version either. then i remembered this lovely lacy baktus scarf that i had seen and immediately cast on for it. in a very short time, i knew this was the scarf this yarn was destined to be. it's perfect and i can't wait to finish and wear it!

happy creative wednesday! what are you working on this week?
