ever since i made maya's rainbow booga bag, i've dreamed of making myself a little felted rainbow iphone purse out of the malabrigo leftovers. one that is sturdy, yet small and unobtrusive - that i can wear over my shoulder, cross body style, so that i can have my phone with me at all times (does anyone else have trouble hearing their phone in their purse?). and so, based on the process of felting maya's bag...i began to calculate out (with a healthy dose of guess work, i can assure you) a little pattern to knit from. after a few failed attempts (the first two were too large), i am happy to announce that i was successful. and i am more than thrilled with the result...
an over the shoulder, cross body purse that fits my iphone like a glove. in rainbow colors, no less. i have to tell you that i haven't taken it off since i finished it. and naturally, maya now wants a 'little rainbow purse' all her own. guess who will be getting one of those larger, first attempts? :)
here it is in it's amazing large, pre-felted state (sans the long, pink i-cord strap). my goodness, felting is a crazy thing...isn't it?

i've got two projects to share on this 'work in progress' wednesday today - one is new and one is old. the new one is a matching pair of basic fingerless mitts that i'm knitting for my just-turned 13 year old niece. i made her this calorimetry headband for christmas and wanted to make her some matching mitts using this pink and green artyarns supermerino. i'm really liking the rib knit progress so far...
the old project is another rainbow christmas tree garland that maya fingerknitted for us using a bulkier wool yarn (here is the worsted yarn version she made). she actually started this bulkier one way back in february (it was her very first fingerknitting project ever...and i posted about it here) and she finished it in december, but i somehow failed to get it into my ravelry notebook...so i wanted to post about it again and add this photo of her making it.

i'm finally getting around to posting a few more of the christmas gifts i knitted for family this year. here are the three finished scarves i made (after posting about each in various stages of progress), modeled by my sweet girl. i'm very happy with the way each turned out!
this first amoroso scarf was for my mom. i used malabrigo silky merino in the ever lovely amoroso colorway, and oh my...i love how this pattern knitted up in this yarn! i'm even thinking about making an identical one for myself. :)
here is the waffle scarf i made for my dad. this scarf, and the one i made for my brother below, were both made using manos del uruguay's silk blend (in coffee). i really adore how this pattern looks in this yarn...
and lastly, the one row scarf i made for my brother. a very simple, yet masculine, scarf. perfect for the brother who has everything. :)
who doesn't love a warm and cozy scarf in winter?

here is the latest addition to the knitted dolls i make. a little winter snow baby. similar to my winter sprite nature table doll, but using a softer silk/wool blend yarn since this doll is for little ones. i hope to have some available in my waldorfmama shop soon! details for this project on my ravelry page here.

we love using baskets for many things in our home. one of the main things i love about baskets is how easy it is to organize with them. they keep things neat on shelves and tables. and are very handy for carrying about. and whether wooden or wicker, i always appreciate their natural and organic appearance...
here's to baskets today!
