one of my favorite places to be in our house is maya's room. as i've shared before...we have striven to make her space peaceful, calm, warm and inviting. and we have provided her with only natural made toys, to spark her imagination and deepen her connection to the world around her. it is these special things that create a certain reverence in childhood and, in the waldorf philosophy, create a 'fundamental attitude of the soul'. as rudolf steiner expressed in how to know higher worlds...'experience teaches us that we know best how to hold our heads high in freedom if we have learned to feel reverence when it is appropriate'. and so, we strive to emulate this reverence and attitude in our lives for the simple, everyday things that surround us.
